SEO Tips for Fast Search Engine Rankings

Part 1 - Domain Name Relevance
Ranking on the 1st page of major Search Engines such as Google, Yahoo! and Bing can sometimes become a nightmare for the budding webmaster, however, there are a few simple tips and techniques that a person can utilise to make the job easier...
The relevance of a domain name is something that is often overlooked. Major search engines place a high degree of importance on this aspect of a website, and will often reward or punish the webmaster accordingly! When it comes to domain names, .com is king. However, in the event that your chosen .com is not available (which is most of the time) select either .net or .org. Besides these three, I would not recommend any others. I have seen Google rank a .com on Page 1 within 2 days, and a similar .net take over 4 months!
For example, if the topic of your site is "Cattle Dog Training" a perfect domain name would be www.CattleDogTraining.com. However, if you were thinking that a more attractive domain name would be somthing like www.CattleDogSecrets.com, you would be right... But only attractive to the person using the search engine... Satisfy the Search Engine first, the user second. This might sound crazy, but understand that unless you keep the search engines happy, you won't get any users at all!

Single Topic Pages
It is extremely important to organize your onpage content to suit the search engines. This does not mean writing things for the sake of the search engines, but it does mean that you need to arrange your content to be shown in acceptable way. Just as there is a correct structure when you are writing an SA for college, there is a correct way to organize your content on your website.
The number one thing to take away from this is to keep 1 topic to a page. For example, if you have a site about horse riding, be sure to stick to sub topic within the site itself. In this case, you would have 1 page for "Horse Riding", 1 page for "Horse Riding Tips", 1 page for "Horse Riding Equipment", 1 page for "Horse Riding Maps" and so on...
In this scenario, on the page concerning "Horse Riding Equipment" only talk about horse riding equipment - not horse riding, not horse riding tips...etc... ONLY "Horse Riding Equipment". This applies to all of the pages on your site. 1 Topic per page will create both an easy layout for your website visitors, and will also satisfy the search engines by having only the most relevant content on each page.
You have to understand that when a person uses a search engine, they will not find a result for your site... They will find a result for a Page on your Site. This being the case, you can see why it is very important to only have relevant content on each page. A person who wants to read about "Horse Riding Tips" may not necessarily want to read about "Horse Riding Maps", so don't include this information on the page.

Part 3- Using Title Tags Correctly
The Title Tag is possibly one of the most important things you can do correctly. Your title tag should be accuarate and contain the exact same keywords that your page is targeting. For example, if your site is about "Baby Toys" be sure to include this in your title. Some examples of this might be:
1. "Best Baby Toys"
2. "Safe Baby Toys"
3. "Safest Baby Toys for Infants"
and so on...
As long as it includes the main Keyword or Keyprhase for that page, you can't go wrong.
One thing to remember though is this; don't be repetitive.
And that brings us to the end of that lesson - short and sweet!
ps. Many people make the mistake of using your title tag as the description of the site. The title needs to catch the eye, be memorable and say exactly what the page is about - nothing more.

Hi katyzzz,
Yes and no. Everything requires some level of effort. I think you always need to weigh up the potential for profit and compare it to the effort needed to get to that point.
I have gone to a huge amount of effort with some sites and had a great return, and gone to the same level with others and have had no return... Thats my honest answer.
I also think that you have to enjoy doing SEO to an extent. I do enjoy it for some strange reason! lol. I also get a great amount of joy when I see the happiness from my clients. There success is my success - so to speak.
If you gat it right from the start, it is far easier than fixing it down the track...
